There are a variety of modalities or bodywork techniques to incorporate into your session. Depending on your preferences, your session may include a variety of modalities available or you may choose to focus on one type of bodywork specifically. The following information gives a brief description of the modalities that are available through Bear Branch Bodyworks.
Acupressure - a segment of traditional Chinese medicine, Acupressure works with our vital life force that flows throughout the body along channels of energy meridians. Along these pathways are acu-points. When these points are stimulated using gentle to firm finger pressure, blockages are released along the energy meridians. This enables the body to have a balanced energy flow and brings about benefits such as releasing muscular tension, promoting blood flow, relieving stress, creating deep relaxation, and balancing overall life force energy.
Ayurveda - an ancient holistic approach to health that originated in India. Through identifying your specific body type and identifying imbalances, Ayurveda strengthens the body, mind, and spirit through whole body cleansing which leads to restoring balance so that your body is able to function optimally. Ayurveda incorporates diet, herbs, cleansing, exercise, yoga, and mediation just to name a few.
Craniosacral Therapy - A gentle bodywork approach working with soft tissues around the sacrum, along the spine, neck and cranium. A nurturing experience that supports balance in body, mind and spirit.
Myofascial Release - an individualized holistic bodywork technique with an intention of releasing restrictions within our fascial connective tissue that brings about profound changes in the quality of life and overall body function.
Reiki - a form of energetic bodywork that originated in Japan. Reiki means Universal Life Energy. During a Reiki session the client is clothed and either lying down or sitting in a chair. The practitioner places hands along Chakras or energy centers in the body. This type of bodywork is very calming and promotes well-being mentally, physically, and spiritually. Reiki relieves pain, restores vitality, and aids spiritual growth.
Swedish Massage - this modern method of massage was developed in Sweden during the early 1800's. Swedish massage is very relaxing and includes long gliding strokes as well as kneading, tapping, gentle shaking, and friction. This type of massage allows for integration of other modalities that have been mentioned above. By massaging the skin, our largest organ in the body, Swedish massage affects all organ systems of the body and promotes overall health and well-being.
Therapeutic Essential Oils - Therapeutic Essential Oils are a gift from the Earth that support the health and well-being of body, mind and spirit. Uses and benefits of essential oils are endless and amazingly simple. Application of essential oils in massage therapy promote a sense of deep relaxation while aiding muscles and soft tissues to respond and release. Wellness consults are available to learn how therapeutic essential oils can be integrated into your daily life for health and well-being.
Yoga and Meditation - Yoga originated in India thousands of years ago and literally means "union". Yoga is very complex yet simple. The basis for yoga is a practice of asanas or poses. Through yoga one can develop more flexibility and strength while improving focus, discipline and developing a stronger mind, body and spirit connection. Meditation allows one to sit quietly with the essence of your being and connect with creative life force energy. Through yoga and meditation a practitioner can become closer to self, others and environment. Practicing yoga and mediation is beneficial to mind, body, and spirit as well as enhancing overall life experience.
I look forward to working with you and being part of your journey....
